Headpieces Red

The headpiece is a broad category that covers all objects and decoration worn on the head that don't have full coverage like a traditional hat. Headpieces are used as adornments for the head for religious and political purposes, for ceremonies, or for fashion statements.

They can be seen as symbols of significance or power but also function as protection from the elements such as wind or dust. In some cultures, headpieces are worn traditionally, both for ceremonies and for every day use. The breadth of headpieces can include fascinators, crowns, tiaras, veils, wreathes, headbands, combs, and clips.

One of the many popular uses for headpieces nowadays is for ceremonies and special occasions. The most dramatic of headpieces are the crown and the tiara, which are reserved for only the most formal special occasions, such as a formal dance or when a person is being honored for something. With their selected headpiece they can stand out from the crowd with a shining head full of gold or silver and jewels or pearls. Brides have a plethora of choices to make, and to accompany their wedding gown, they may opt for a beautiful tiara or wreath to hold the veil, or they may choose to accentuate their hair with luminous clips or combs. Headpieces are functional in managing the hair, but instead of being hidden like invisible or black colored pins, they are made to be seen.

Another popular headpiece that manages the hair is the headband, which may be seen as a band that sits around the crown of the head or as a fixed arc that slides over the head past the ears. The headband can be decorated with flowers, jewels, ribbons, lace, mesh, or even customizable objects based on the client's request. In many Western weddings, the flower girl may wear a flower wreath or headband, and some of the guests may choose a toned down design of headbands in lieu of full hats. In many spring and summer occasions a beautiful floral headband is a fitting touch for woman and young girls.

In general, one must be specific when selecting headpieces as the difference may result in them standing out from the crown, but not in a positive way. One wouldn't want to wear a fancy crown to another's wedding for example, because the attention should be on the bride. For guests or attendees at a formal event or ceremony, headbands, combs, and clips are recommendable to accentuate the hair. In more casual settings such as events and gatherings, meals or teas, or parties and picnics, one might consider headbands, combs and clips that have smaller more classy designs, or even floral themed decoration.

When making the individual headpieces, the structural base depends on the product itself, whether it's a headband versus a tiara versus a clip. The majority of the rest of the elements are primarily decoration so they can vary wildly and are only restricted by the client or milliner's design. Often materials such as millinery wire or horse hair are used to hold items in place or provide a backbone structure that aesthetically blends with the rest of the headpiece. Precious metals such as gold or silver may be used, jewels, pearls, or beads can be sewn or attached, and mesh, ribbon, or satin may be added to create a fuller effect and soft lines in the headpiece. Additional materials that are commonly seen may include feathers, flowers, twigs, or other small objects. Headpieces allow for an array of creativity and customizability.

Your Hat Cases

My desire was to create beautiful hat cases, cases that combine elegance, functionality and refinement. For this, I called upon my friend, the very talented Brazilian designer Gabriela Goldschmidt De La Fuente. The main design objective was to create an image that reference the G in the Gedilva logo, perfectly representing the brand signature. Gabriela created a sleek and dynamic design in two colors that created strong visual recognition of the brand. The motifs representing a stylized G, refer back to the logo to give a very aesthetically appealing look.

I wanted the hat cases to be fabricated in France. French craftsmanship represents the highest manufacturing quality and expertise in luxury items. I selected Multi Services Carton in Paris, who have specialized in producing luxury packaging for many years. Each of my cases is made exclusively by hand with flawless manufacturing quality.

I wanted a case that would be representative of the quality of my brand, and that matched the style and panache of the hat within the case. When you purchase a Gedilva designed hat, you will possess a high fashion and high quality hat and case set that will accompany you throughout your life.
