Gedilva Targino is today’s reference in the new French millinery scene. She has constant contact and discussions with other French and London-based milliners and she co-ordinates a research group in her workshop, which allows her to challenge and innovate.

Her desire to work with hats was born in her long experience in the fashion industry. At only 17 years’ of age she left her home town of Campo Grande which is in a region of west-central Brazil. She lived in Sao Paulo in the south- east where she was awarded her university degree.

Still very young, she was “discovered” by the Elite Model Agency in Sao Paulo where her modeling portfolio was shot. She then went on to live in New York for ten years.

As a citizen of the world, Gedilva got to know fabulous places which helped her to develop her fashion tastes. It was during her frequent European travels that she fell in love with Paris millinery. She felt that hats were much appreciated, and because of her work she was able to offer quality accessories exclusively crafted by artisans, to women who like her valued hats in women’s fashion.

With the intention of bringing innovation to the world of fashion accessories, she created her own brand: MAISON GEDILVA PARIS. She now lives in Bordeaux so that she maintains a constant contact with French millinery, and it is here that she visualizes and creates her hats and commercializes them, mainly by e-commerce.
