Haute Couture Hats

A work of art in the feminine wardrobe

The gaze of the world has always been drawn to haute couture. These unique clothes have become a purchasable object for those having considerable financial resources, a universe of some 4000 people across the planet : queens, princesses, the heiresses of petroleum dynasties, famous actresses, the first ladies of different countries, the wives of sheiks and Russian oligarchs and recently, the biggest technological entrepreneurs, who due to their work have enormous revenues to buy them.

The long, floating gowns with their embroidery and irreproachable detailing become objects of desire for the women who have the economic means to acquire them. These clothes which are worn on the catwalks by international models (for example Gisèle Bündchen) are publicized in the media by renowned photographers who are omnipresent in Europe, the Orient and the Americas.

The annual Hollywood red carpet at the Oscars’ ceremony is the ideal showcase for the procession of invited participants and actresses, whose gowns and shoes are in the most part from haute couture fashion houses. Often the international press speaks more about the women’s outfits than the films that have won the awards.

The pictures of the best-dressed women make the covers of magazines and flood web sites for weeks. Then, suddenly, many women throughout the world copy these designer gowns and appropriate them for their own special occasions, especially for brides, bridesmaids and wedding guests.

When the celebration takes place during the daytime, another fashionable accessory in addition to the gown and shoes attracts the attention. The hat is admired not only by those well-off enough to buy one but also by those who would like to wear one day.

Even if this apparel was traditionally used to cover men’s and women’s heads to protect them from the sun or the cold, today they have become an elegant and refined fashion accessory. Hats today are created in different models and fabrics and are decorated with care and delicacy, which renders them like the gowns, objects of desire for many women throughout the world.

According to an artist who has conceived his own personal millinery rules, using a function of the shape of the client’s face, the size of her head and her style and social standing, one can create certain hats which are elevated to the status of works of art.

Under the guidance of their master milliner, the hands of the craftsmen molding the materials which give the structure, the weaving of high quality materials, and using their skills and attention to the decorations and details (for example real pearls), each hat is given an irreproachable finish. The lightness of the fabrics, the modeling cut-outs, the originality of certain details, like the flowers, are so picture-perfect that they carry the viewer to a reverential contemplation.

Although there is already a certain designer culture in Europe, the consensus of opinion on the creator of the most beautiful hats falls on Philip Tracy, who is the person responsible for some of the models worn by the most beautiful and most sophisticated women of our era.

In fact, more and more haute couture hats are becoming the most sought after accessories for women and now millinery artists go on to make unique and personalized hats which are genuine works of art. As is already happening with haute couture gowns, designer hats will soon be exhibited in the most prestigious museums of the world.

Your Hat Cases

My desire was to create beautiful hat cases, cases that combine elegance, functionality and refinement. For this, I called upon my friend, the very talented Brazilian designer Gabriela Goldschmidt De La Fuente. The main design objective was to create an image that reference the G in the Gedilva logo, perfectly representing the brand signature. Gabriela created a sleek and dynamic design in two colors that created strong visual recognition of the brand. The motifs representing a stylized G, refer back to the logo to give a very aesthetically appealing look.

I wanted the hat cases to be fabricated in France. French craftsmanship represents the highest manufacturing quality and expertise in luxury items. I selected Multi Services Carton in Paris, who have specialized in producing luxury packaging for many years. Each of my cases is made exclusively by hand with flawless manufacturing quality.

I wanted a case that would be representative of the quality of my brand, and that matched the style and panache of the hat within the case. When you purchase a Gedilva designed hat, you will possess a high fashion and high quality hat and case set that will accompany you throughout your life.
